Hotel Wi-Fi has to serve guests in rooms, public areas and meeting spaces while protecting business systems such as reception terminals, staff devices and cameras. A network that works in the lobby may fail in rooms separated by thick walls or multiple floors, so coverage and capacity need to be planned throughout the property.
Survey rooms and shared spaces
Identify room layouts, building materials, outdoor seating and high-use areas. Test signal and client experience in representative locations, including corners and upper floors. Access point placement should reflect both the radio path and where guests actually use devices.
Keep guest traffic separate
Guest access should not expose internal business applications or management interfaces. Use appropriate isolation, authentication and bandwidth policies where supported. Decide how guests will receive access details and how credentials or access sessions will be managed over time.
Prepare for peak occupancy
Estimate concurrent connections during busy periods and account for video streaming, calls and multiple devices per guest. Monitor uplink usage and access-point health, and document a support process for complaints. Explore access points and networking equipment after completing a property-wide coverage plan.
